Consumer Insights Analyst

PURPOSE OF YOUR WORK

The Consumer Insights Analyst works directly with the Director of Consumer Insights to support the analysis function for all Marketing initiatives, including guest analytics (quantitative as well as qualitative), consumer trends, menu assortment & optimization, pricing, offer strategy development and promotional effectiveness, digital and database marketing. This individual provides support in the aggregation of a wide range of custom and syndicated research and works on analysis to inform key business initiatives and decisions.  To succeed in this role, this individual is detail-oriented, has outstanding analytical skills, and has the ability to tackle multiple consumer research tasks at once with the larger goal of positively impacting consumer/financial performance for the brand.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform quantitative research and analyses on various types of data such as sales, P&L, product mix, discounting, operational KPIs, customer satisfaction data, and vendor supplied data at the national, regional, and local level
  • Integrate multiple sources of sales and consumer data to provide summaries and insights to management on a regular basis
  • Facilitate ongoing improvements to reporting processes and infrastructure
  • Mine third-party research sources (e.g., NPD, Technomic, Mintel, food vendors, etc.) for insights and supply to team as needed
  • Act as lead project manager and data analyst for qualitative and quantitative primary custom research projects (e.g., manage vendors and calendars, write questionnaire and report drafts, etc.), including (but not limited to):
    • Brand Health Tracking
    • Guest Satisfaction Program
    • Concept Testing
    • Qualitative Focus Groups
    • Taste Tests
    • Other Ad Hoc Research
  • Manage marketing research and data analytics vendor relationships
  • Work cross-functionally in the testing, implementation and integration of all marketing tactics with FP&A, Business Intelligence, Operations, and IT
  • Provide primary support for daily ad hoc requests and other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • BA/BS in applicable field, MBA/MA/MS preferred (Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Psychology/Sociology, Marketing, etc.)
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in data analysis, market research, and/or consumer research
  • Experience with restaurant industry financial analysis, consumer research, or marketing a strong plus
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, advanced functions, formulas, filtering, etc.) and PowerPoint essential
  • Experience managing multi-faceted analytics projects and synthesizing and presenting actionable insights from a variety of data-points and analyses
  • Experience building and maintaining dashboard-based reporting using Tableau, R, or Python a plus
  • Experience with Microstrategy/APT a plus
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Team orientation, ability to work cross functionally
  • Self-starter accustomed to working with ambiguity
  • Extremely detail oriented and timeline driven
