Payroll Clerk 1

PURPOSE OF YOUR WORK

At Checkers & Rally’s we make a difference in people’s lives by serving our Franchisees, Teams, and Guests. This position is responsible for the processing of payroll, payroll taxes and providing support for Restaurant employees.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Process large volumes of data entry corresponding to New Hire / Rehire tax and direct deposit setup and Restaurant Total Hours on a bi-weekly basis.
  2. Review and troubleshoot / fix Successfactors Employee Central Data Replication Errors.
  3. Process end-to-end Garnishment related task such as interpret, set up and address any garnishment related inquiry. Compose letters and Answers to Interrogatories. Research federal and state laws on all garnishment types: Support (Alimony and/or Child), Tax Levies (Federal and/or State), Creditor, Bankruptcy and Wage Assignments.
  4. Perform timekeeping audits and handle time punch exceptions.
  5. Review and audit new Instant Paycard Account Profiles and addresses any discrepancies by contacting the Store’s General Manager and/or District Manager or Instant Support.
  6. Respond on a timely manner to large volumes of email correspondence and phone calls while exhibiting professionalism and exceptional customer service.
  7. Accurately audits Payroll Adjustment forms and enters hours for off-cycle (manual) check runs.
  8. Communicates with the HR People Engagement / Support Teams to ensure the integrity of the payroll data including, new hire, termination, promotion, etc.
  9. Prepares large volumes of overnight mailing for the distribution of payroll paycheck stubs to restaurants
  10. Researches and resolves questions from managers and employees as they relate to the processing of payroll information; including paid time off, banking, garnishments, employment verifications, workers compensation, and tax questions.
  11. Ensures payroll reports and files are appropriately stored according to record and retention standards
  12. Provides employee payroll data and records as requested and responds to governmental inquiries
  13. Recommends alternative processes and procedures to streamline payroll functions and create efficiencies within the process
  14. Assists in special projects as assigned by Management and performs other duties as required, with or without accommodation.

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required; Associate’s Degree with an emphasis in Business or Accounting is preferred.

 

Experience

  • Successfactors Employee Central / Payroll experience is a plus
  • A minimum of 2-4 years experience in On-Premise SAP payroll processing for 1000 plus employees is preferred; Will consider a minimum of 5 years equivalent experience in related payroll duties using an ERP system.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with Multi-State Payroll Processing is required
  • Experience with Payroll Tax laws and regulations preferred
  • RTI Timekeeping System is a plus
  • FPC or CPP certifications are a plus

 

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret written information such as procedure manuals, Company communications or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods in one location, which may be restricted to the employee’s workstation.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
